Director of Social services

Robyn Smith

Prior to her position as Director of Social Services with the Church of God Home for Children, Robyn served as a School Counselor in Spartanburg County. During this time, she developed after school enrichment programs for girls, served on special education committees, and was named one of the Upstate’s Top Ten Educators that Make a Difference in 2016 by Upstate Parent Magazine. In 2010 she worked with the South Carolina Early Autism Project as a Lead Therapist. There she was trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy and worked as a supervisor with children on the autism spectrum. Her passion for child welfare came from her career with the Department of Social Services as an Adoption Preservation Specialist in 2007. In this position she counseled families on how to preserve their adopted family in time of crisis. Prior to this, Robyn worked for Mental Health America as a crisis interventionist.  Robyn spent many of her college years working in inner city missions and adopted the passion to serve.  She earned a MEd in Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina Upstate.   We are excited to have Robyn as part of our team here at the HFC!
